Restaurant Review + Giveaway: Market Buffet at Belterra Park

I was recently invited to Belterra Park on Kellogg near Coney Island. I had never been before - so I was excited for the grand tour!

Belterra Park is what used to be River Downs and if you haven't been by there - it's pretty great. They have horse racing as well as slot machines. That is part of the regulations they have to follow to have the horse racing is that there are no table games (who knew?).

Not surprisingly they have lots of great dining options - first we got a tour of Favorites Steak & Pasta. They have the view of the track and serve up some big ol' steaks! (Can't wait to try them!)

There is a very nice warm feeling with lots of wood and a few horses here and there.

They also have the perfect view of the track - so mental note - make a reservation on the night of a race and you get a double play!

They also have Nosh and Burger Brothers in the main aisle - Nosh serves up coffee, gelato, sandwiches and treats while Burger Brothers has BURGERS (shocker - right?).

Off of Favorites is a patio area with an overhang that access the stands. While the races are going on they also have vending areas outside during the races.

Unfortunately it was a rainy evening when I was there but the track is set up really nice and has a great area to watch races. You can also get up close to the horses - which the other race tracks don't always have!

Inside - there's a huge room where folks can see races all over the country. This room was empty the day we were there - but on a Derby day they actually release tickets for this room. So keep that in mind!

There's a private lounge for some casino members and it's very cozy. The thing that most stood out were these doors. They have a thin piece of wood in the glass panels...and a price tag of $50,000 per door!!!! Yowza!

I was there because for Lent they've been having a Fisherman's Keep seafood special. It's $27.99 for the Fisherman's Keep buffet and they're open 4-9pm Sunday - Thursday and 4-10pm on Friday & Saturday.

Outside of the Dinner hours - their lunch buffet price is $15.99 and Sunday brunch is $24.95.

The buffet has a lot of different stations that have pretty much whatever you could want - from prime rib to Chinese and everything in between.

The staff is very friendly and helpful - if you have a question - they can answer it.

I even met the husband of one of my readers! His wife won a gift card from me recently so he made sure to come out and say hi! Hi Tiffany's husband!

The Fisherman's Keep was ready for us as well - with a huge pot of Snow crab legs ready to grab.

As well as a pile of peel & eat shrimp. There was much more - if you like seafood - it's a great buffet! It's only available through Saturday - so be sure to stop by. (After Fisherman's Keep - they'll have a Mother's Day special - stay tuned for that!)

See Chinese food!

The Market Buffet is also the owner of the ONLY Tandoori oven in the area! They have specialty chefs in specific areas such as Indian and Chinese - so it's great to have authenticity in those areas. Stop by at lunch for fresh naan (um - yes please!).

They also have a pizza bar and I loved that everything was so fresh! You could tell it was all homemade - which is a big plus to me!

As always with a casino buffet - the dessert area was phenomenal - desserts, gelato, chocolate and more. So yummy!

They have some really beautiful and fancy chocolate sculptures as well -

Yes - Mr Octopus is completely made of chocolate!

I love how gelato counters make their gelato look so beautiful! It was hard to walk past this - I definitely skipped the salad bar! ;-)

This picture is so amazing - right? Okay - not really but it was taken to remind me to tell you how great the macaroni & cheese was. So when you go - be sure to grab a spoonful - I'm a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to mac & cheese - so trust me!

I also definitely enjoyed the crab legs! They're one of my favorite things! They provide big buckets on your table as well for disposal of all the legs and have great tools to get the meat out - I really wanted to snag a set to take home with me!

Then the dessert area - oh man - not even sure where to start! These are some of my favorites - what I thought was a cake pop turned out to be a cheesecake pop - so good! The cannoli was really good - crispy and not too sweet. A huge pot of bread pudding with caramel sauce was staring me down. But my favorite was the chocolate lava cake!!! It was delicious!!!

After dinner we got to go behind-the-scenes and see how they do things. Our favorite chef (can't remember his name but he was super friendly!) was working on the crab boil...

As well as FRESH fried chicken. They only have these couple of small friers so every piece of fried chicken comes out of there. OMG it smelled so good - it took every fiber of my being to not snatch that chicken thigh off the pan!!!!

After the tour, we stopped by the Stadium Sports Bar & Grill - they have a ton of beers on tap and a big menu as well.

With the ample tvs - it's also a great place to watch a game. They said it was PACKED on Super Bowl Sunday (Go Broncos!)

Before we left I REALLY wanted to play the Big Bang Theory slot game - but people playing it were about as immovable as Howard's mother so that didn't happen.

I slid down and lost a few bucks on Britney instead - she sings to you! These machines are fancy!

And if you really want to splurge - hit up the $100 slot machine. Yes - $100 for one line. Holy moly!

Why Should You Go? I really liked the Market Buffet - the food was very tasty and there were PLENTY of options! My mom is a casino lover so when she comes to visit this summer - we'll definitely be making a stop to Belterra Park!

And now we've got a couple of fun things for you! First - the generous folks at Belterra Park are giving away 2 passes to the Market Buffet for one lucky Food Hussy Fan! So be sure to tell me what item on the buffet is your favorite!

Second - mark your calendar to spend Mother's Day with Belterra Park!! (May 8!!!) They will be having a special brunch buffet on Mother's Day with fancy things like Eggs Benedict and more! Plus - if you want to bring the kids - they'll have an outdoor buffet for just $15.95 per person! It's a rare chance to bring the kids trackside and give Mom an extra special day!
