Restaurant Review: The Factory Buvette & Bar - Newport KY

We are always looking and exploring new places for lunch and we've driven by the new Factory Buvette and Bar a million times - everytime shouting "Dammit - we forgot about the Buvette!!". Finally - we didn't forget.

Let me say Buvette is the most fun word to say - I say it like a tiny Frenchman. I'm pretty sure it annoys my coworkers but I do it anyway.

Inside they have a small menu - they do serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night. When I was there they had a small bar but were expanding in the next couple of weeks. They also have a full coffee bar. I love that they had craft beers including my husband's favorite - Kentucky Bourbon Barrel.

The quiche in the case was very tempting - I'm a complete sucker for quiche. But I was hungry and not sure that would tide me over. Everything is very homemade. The owners used to own another place in NKY - but since that closed they opened this.

It's got a very natural feel with herbs planted on the tables instead of flowers. The interior is very clean and spacious. They have a few couches in the back and a few tables outside. Service is slow - especially for such a small menu - but we figure - at least the food is fresh.

Dawn got the BLT ($6) - which comes on ciabatta bread and includes thick cut applewood smoked bacon, spring greens, tomato and mayo - and LITTLE PICKLES!!!! What goes on in my head - I'm not sure - but those little pickles got me! They're adorable and so unique and NOT sweet. They are some tart little buggers!! The sandwich looked delicious and Dawn was very pleased with it - and $6 for a sandwich, chips and pickles - that's a great deal!

I went for the Gourmet Grilled Cheese + Bacon ($6.50) - this came on sourdough and included Swiss, gruyere and gouda cheese as well as carmelized onions, tomato and spicy mustard - plus the applewood smoked bacon. I chose potato pancakes for my side - and they came with a big cup of sour cream - um YES!!

My sandwich was great as well - I loved the gourmet take on grilled cheese and the potato pancakes were yum - well when dunked in the sour cream. On their own - they were just ok (not as good as Izzys). We will DEFINITELY be back!!

Why Should You Go? The food is quality and delicious - plus affordable ($6?!). They need to improve their soda selection - they only had Orange Crush and Sprite the day we were there - but they said it was temporary. I liked it a lot and would highly recommend you try it.
