Restaurant Review: Harvest Dinner at Seasons 52

Recently I was invited to try the Harvest Dinner menu at Seasons 52 and now - I get to share it with you! Seasons 52 features a seasonal menu that features fresh rustic cooking styles.

The only Seasons 52 in Ohio is in Cinci - they're also affiliated with their neighbors Capital Grille which I've been to many times!

They have a special Harvest Dinner going on right now and it's a 3 course dinner for just $29. The selections are great and you can also add on wines for $6/glass. They even have a special Harvest Wine for this year that is a Sauvingnon Blanc. I'm not much of a wine drinker so I passed on that.

We started with an Amuse Bouche of Butternut Squash on a Brussels Sprout leaf. Whose job is it to peel brussels sprout leaves off? The Chef brought these out to us and stopped to say hi - he's seen me a few times - so it's always good to see him!

For the starter course, you can choose from Roasted Butternut Squash Soup, Spinach Salad with a Roasted Bosc Pear, Field Greens Salad with Granola or the Porcini Mushroom Bisque. Larry and I both went with the bisque. A bisque is typically a creamy soup - and this was a little creamy but very broth based with lots of mushrooms. Larry isn't a big mushroom fan but he was in the mood and liked it a lot. You definitely have to like mushrooms for this one - but we did and we liked it.

For the main course, you can choose from Maple Glazed Roasted Half Chicken, Cedar Plank Roasted Salmon, Braised Australian Lamb Shank or our choices. You'll notice with the Harvest dinner - there's a lot of roasting and braising - it's very fall.

Larry chose the Wood- Grilled Filet Mignon - medium rare of course! - with a side of mashed potatoes and broccolini. He wasn't a fan of the broccolini - so I scored! He liked the potatoes and loved the steak. I did get a bite and it was tasty - very earthy.

I chose the Boneless Beef Short Rib - I have this unwritten rule that if there's short rib on the menu - I get it. It's actually let me down the last couple of times. And this was okay - but not my favorite. It was served with roasted carrots, cheesy grits and a horseradish crema. The carrots and grits were really good - but the short rib wasn't as fall apart as I like. Again though - it's a very fall dinner.

Lastly - we each got a mini-indulgence dessert - and could choose either the Carrot Cake or the Pumpkin Pie. Lucky for me - Larry couldn't eat either - so I got both! It's hard to say which was better - they're so different. The carrot cake is great - but it's heavy on the cream cheese frosting - so if you don't like that - you won't like this. The pumpkin pie on the other hand is heavy on the pumpkin. I will say though - that sugar-coated gingersnap was perfection! It's crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside and just the right about of sweetness. Yum!

Why Should You Go?

The Harvest Dinner is available at Seasons 52 now thru November 22 - so don't miss out. Three courses for $29 each is a great deal - the portion sizes are big - I definitely had leftovers. And anything that ends with carrot cake is good by me! Thanks again to Seasons 52 for dinner for Larry & I!

I'll be running a giveaway on Facebook for a $52 gift card - so stay tuned to that!
