It was a revolving door for a few years – then Double J opened and did so well they moved up the street to a much larger space (I tried it once in this spot and didn’t love it but have really enjoyed their new location!) Not too long after Double J moved on Bacon Brothers Barbecue opened here. Recently – they’ve changed their name to Goshen Smokehouse…and you’ll see why!
They definitely have the smokehouse thing down. Friends of mine that work nearby have told me how great their catering is. They have large buffet style or by-the-pound meats and sides.
First we tried the pulled pork and sweet potato fries ($10.50). The pulled pork was good – juicy and smoky but those sweet potato fries were delicious! They were maybe lightly battered and fried – sprinkled with seasoning. We really enjoyed them! I would highly recommend the fries!
I got the Pork Chop dinner that was on special. Most of their dinners come with 2 sides and cornbread as you see here. The sides were all fine – I’m picky with my macaroni and this was just ok. The beans were very rich and saucy. The pineapple cole slaw was a bit flavorless and a disappointment. The cornbread also was fine but I like adding butter to mine.
The pork chop though – was perfect! They had that blush of pink running through with perfection! I mean – that is a perfectly smoked and super thick chop! It’s not easy to smoke a chop and have it juicy all the way through. I only ate half of it – with all the sides and such to try – and enjoyed the rest for lunch the next day.
