Grassroots & Vine is really interesting – it’s a bar, a gift shop, a wine shop, a restaurant and more. It’s a very cute place and they are super focused on local products and vendors. They have live music sometimes as well.
If you haven’t visited Fort Thomas – then you need to! There are so many cute shops and restaurants. They also have a great patio on the side of the building – which I know it’s not patio weather at the moment – but we also know that we’ll get 55 degree day soon that’ll feel like August!
At G&V, the Lunch Menu is actually much larger than the Dinner Menu but they’re flexible and can make most of the items at either time. This is the Grassroots & Vine salad ($10) with greens, toasted pecans, tart apples, red onion, goat cheese, sunflower seeds and a house vinaigrette.
The salad was pretty good but I could have used a stronger vinaigrette. There were a lot of components and we enjoyed it. We shared it between the two of us and it was a good size for that.
I got the charcuterie and cheese board ($18) with two meats, one artisan cheese, olives, pickles, grained mustard and veggies. It was a good assortment – I would like a couple of cheeses since I’m not a huge brie fan – but it was pretty good and there was a lot on the plate.
Kelly got the Margherita Flatbread ($10 – one of their vegetarian options). You can add roasted chicken for $3 as well. This was really large for an individual flatbread. I think most of their items are meant for sharing – which we did – since they are a drinks & food kind of place. It’s topped with basil pesto, fire roasted tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella. This was pretty good – but not our favorite flatbread that we’ve had.
I decided to splurge on their special Honeysuckle Cake ($6) – the cake is made by Sweet Ace Cakes and is their take on a Hummingbird Cake. It’s a spice cake with a nice thick cream cheese icing. This was delicious!!!
Why Should You Go? If you are looking for someplace to have a drink after a long day and grab some apps with your friends – Grassroots & Vine is perfect! And they have a ton of items to make artisan gift baskets – which is great with the holidays coming up!
