Traeger Smoked Chicken Thighs

Traeger Smoked Chicken Thighs

Bone-in chicken thighs are my favorite part of the chicken and smoking them on the Traeger makes them even better! Crispy skin, juicy dark meat - the best and most delicious chicken you can make!

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs bone-in skin-on chicken thighs
  • 3 tbsp bbq seasoning rub

Instructions

  • Preheat your smoker to 275 degrees F.
  • Rinse chicken thighs and pat dry with a paper towel. Trim off excess fat and skin.
    2 lbs bone-in skin-on chicken thighs
  • Season on all sides of chicken thigh generously with spice rub
    3 tbsp bbq seasoning rub
  • Place chicken thighs skin side up on grill grates of Traeger. Skin side up insures you get that crispy chicken skin that everybody likes!
  • Close the lid and smoke for approx an hour until internal temperature of chicken is 160º. Test with instant read meat thermometer.
  • OPTIONAL: If you want to add your favorite barbecue sauce - this is the time to do it! Baste with BBQ sauce and close the lid. Leave on the Traeger for 5-10 minutes and let the heat bake that sauce into the skin.
  • Remove from grill and allow to rest for 5-10 minutes.
