Pleasant Ridge Chili Review

So I've lived in Pleasant Ridge for 2 years now and have always been a little afraid of the big blinking flashing arrow on Montgomery Rd! But last week while on vacation - I finally bit the bullet and ventured into the neighborhood phenom known as Pleasant Ridge Chili!

They're famous for gravy cheese fries - yes GRAVY CHEESE FRIES. Makes me throw up a little in my mouth just thinking about it!

(Update - had the gravy cheese fries - they rock the house!)

Needless to say - I haven't gone so far as to try those - that'll be visit #2.

I did try the chili - got my standard Skyline order - 3 way and a coney and...

They're open until 430am - so how can you go wrong? I can't wait to go for breakfast sometime. And yes - one of these times - I'll even try the GCF! I have to work up to that though...

I'm going to give it a 4 star = Oh need a minute here...cuz that is amazing! Mainly because it was so cheap and so close to home! I can't wait to go back!

  1. As a (new) fellow resident of PR let me just say that I can't even express how excited I am to be living just down the road from two of my favorite dining establishments, PRC and Emanu! PRC is my favorite greasy spoon! Now, don't get me wrong, I love the Anchor and will gladly make the journey when need be, but PRC is super fantastic and oh so close! I get the plain (not a huge fan of gravy) cheese fries melted (you have to say "melted", because without the gravy the cheese just sits on top of the fries and refuses to melt!) Mmm, delicious!

  2. Much agreed - I absolutely love PRC and Emanu. Have you been to Rasheeda's yet? Trying to convince the BF to go.

I also love the Gaslight...we have a great neighborhood!

  3. I haven't been to Rasheeda's yet. My sister and I went in and picked up a menu (after a trip to PRC). The menu looked sparse, but like it might have some potential.

Gaslight is good too! Good bar food. I couldn't agree with you more!

Have you been to the Loving Cafe yet? My sister likes it (she's also a PR resident), but I'm just not sure...I take issue with fake cheese and faux meat! I guess I just like the real stuff too much.

  4. Yeah - my friend Veggie Option went to Loving and asked - WHERE ARE THE VEGETABLES? Same thing I said after I went.

I had the "bbq chicken" and it was good when it was HOT but after cooling - eek not so good.

  5. If I had to pick my last meal before I die - it would be 2 Quatman Burgers with a Hudy Draft and gravey cheese and fries from PRC.

Growing up in Norwood - we hit this place all the time after parties. It does get crazy around 1a-3am with all the drunks coming in for the GCF.
