Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Popper Ingredients
Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Poppers are so delicious and the ingredients are simple – and if you’re not a fan of taco seasoning – swap it with Ranch!
- Whole Fresh Jalapenos – 4 Jalapenos makes 8 poppers and fits well in the air fryer – more than that and you’ll have to do them in batches
- Softened Cream Cheese – Leave the cream cheese out for an hour before you make
- Colby Jack Cheese – I love CoJack but you could swap Cheddar Cheese, Pepper Jack or any other favorite!
- Taco Seasoning – I buy in bulk because I use it so often!
- Bacon – Do NOT go for thick cut here – the thinner “regular” cut is much easier to wrap around things and cooks more quickly.
- BBQ sauce – my favorite is Williamson Bros BBQ – it’s very light and not overly sweet – it’s a great complement to these poppers!
How to make bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers in the air fryer?
Air Fryer Jalapeno Poppers go together in just 15 minutes and are fun to make. Let’s get started!
- Slice jalapenos in half lengthwise – keeping the stem in-tact
- Using a small spoon, scrape out ribs and seeds from jalapenos and discard.
- If you’re sensitive to peppers – you might want to wear gloves while making – at the very least don’t rub your eyes!
- In a medium bowl, mix together room temperature cream cheese, shredded cheese and taco seasoning. You may want to use a small hand mixer for this step.
- Using the same small spoon from cleaning out the peppers, fill the jalapeno pepper halves with the cream cheese mixture.
- Take one of the bacon strips and wrap around the jalapeno half – start at the bottom underneath of the pepper and pull tightly in an angle around the pepper so you also finish on the bottom of the pepper.
- Place the jalapeño peppers in the air fryer basket.
- Baste them with your favorite BBQ sauce or even BBQ seasoning
- Air fry at 375ºF at 14 min

Tips, Tricks & FAQs
Nope – not really! When you clean your jalapenos and remove the seeds – that’s where the spicy is. So really – if you want them to be spicy – leave in some seeds or add some spicy ingredients to your filling!
Yes! The jalapenos are raw so they hold up well in the refrigerator. You could easily fill them with cream cheese and wrap them with bacon and refrigerate for a day.
Nah – if you use the regular cut bacon and wrap it tight – it will stick to itself and you won’t need toothpicks.
After wrapping them in bacon – they’re ready for the air fryer! Put them in the air fryer at 375º for 14 minutes and they’re perfect!
Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass ones) in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat in the air fryer at 275º for 3-4 minutes.
Recipe Variations
- Simple – leave out the taco seasoning and just go with plain cream cheese
- Alternate Seasonings – or go the other way and swap the taco seasoning for ranch seasoning – or your own favorites like garlic powder & onion powder for a more subtle delicious.
- Cheese – swap the CoJack for cheddar cheese or straight up Monterey Jack cheese is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry.
- Panko Bread Crumbs – ditch the bacon and coat the cream cheese with panko bread crumbs for a nice crunch!
