Domino’s Pizza has a big menu beyond pizza and this Chicken Carbonara is my constant craving! It’s loaded with grilled chicken, fresh onions and mushrooms, creamy Alfredo sauce and more cheese!

What You Will ❤️ About Domino’s Chicken Carbonara Pasta
- Creamy texture – you’ll love the mix of the alfredo, shredded cheese, chicken and veggies in this delicious pasta dish!
- Affordable! You can make enough for 6-8 people for just a couple bucks more than a serving for 1 at Dominos! You can also cut this recipe in half very easily!
- Perfection! This delicious copycat of Domino’s Chicken Carbonara will have the whole family wanting more of the chunky chicken, sauteed veggies and creamy sauce! You don’t have to be a chef to make this dinner.

Domino’s Chicken Carbonara Ingredients
A traditional recipe for carbonara has eggs but this copycat carbonara recipe is a hearty pasta dish that uses a creamy homemade Alfredo sauce that you can whip up in just a few minutes and has a MUCH better taste than the store-bought. .
- 16 oz penne pasta – you can use any pasta but the ridges in the penne make a nice little home for all that creamy sauce
- 2 large boneless chicken breasts
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 6 slices hickory smoked bacon, diced
- 1 large sweet onion, sliced into slivers
- 12 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup provolone cheese, grated – you could also substitute mozzarella cheese
- Homemade Garlic Parmesan Alfredo Sauce (You can use premade sauce – you’ll need 2.5 cups)
- 4 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp garlic minced
- 1 tbsp all purpose flour
- 3 cups half and half – you can also use a mix of heavy cream and 2% milk
- 2/3 cup Parmesan cheese – you could also use pecorino romano

Recipe Variations
- More Veggies – this is easily a dish you could add more vegetables too! Broccoli, tomatoes, baby spinach and bell peppers would be my favorites!
- Bread Bowl – get all ambitious and serve it in a bread bowl!
- Jarred Alfredo Sauce – I love making my own vibrant Alfredo sauce – but you could easily use a pre-made sauce if you like. You’ll need 2.5 cups for the right amount of sauce.
- Pasta – swap out the penne pasta with spaghetti or bow tie pasta – I mean is there really a wrong type of pasta?

How to make Chicken Carbonara
Domino’s really knows what they’re doing when it comes to a perfect cheese pull – on pizza, pasta, tots and everything else! I added a little extra provolone to the top for more melt!
- Boil pasta as package directs to al dente. Reserve 1 cup pasta water. Drain and set aside. You want your pasta al dente as it will continue to cook in the oven so you don’t want it mushy.
- Preheat oven to 375. Spray 9×13 casserole dish with non-stick spray and set aside.
- In one large skillet, over medium high heat, add bacon and onion. Saute until onions start to soften. Add mushrooms and continue to sauté until bacon starts to brown – about 7 min.
- Season chicken breasts with paprika and garlic salt. Grill/cook until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165ºF, approximately 12 to 15 minutes. Set aside to rest.
- Spoon veggies & bacon into a bowl and set aside. We’re going to use that same skillet for the Alfredo Sauce.
- Clean out skillet that bacon was cooked in and melt butter in that skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add garlic and stir – turn heat to low. Add flour and whisk until combined to make a roux. Add half and half and Parmesan cheese and simmer – whisking constantly for 3-5 min until it starts to thicken. Remove from heat.
- Dice chicken into bite-sized pieces.
- In a large bowl, add bacon, veggies, diced chicken and Alfredo Sauce. Stir until combined. Add in cooked pasta and 1/4 cup pasta water.
- Pour into prepared pan and sprinkle top of the chicken carbonara with provolone cheese.
- Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes to heat through. Turn oven to broil-low and broil for 2-3 min until top turns golden brown.
- Sprinkle on some fresh herbs or parsley and serve!

Tips, Tricks & FAQs
Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass ones) in the refrigerator for up to a week. You can freeze up to three months. Reheat in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.
The air fryer for sure! It’s fool-proof and takes no work and it NEVER comes out dry! Season or marinade and air fry at 360º for 12-18 minutes depending on the size of your chicken breast. Always start with less time, and then check with an instant read meat thermometer. You can always add more time but you can’t unburn it.
Well – Alfredo is typically pasta, cream and parmesan. Carbonara adds a few ingredients like onion, pancetta or bacon, garlic & egg yolks. Alfredo is much cheesier in my opinion but both are delicious.
