What You Will ❤️ About Hawaiian Roll Chicken Sliders
- Easy to Make – Sliders are great – just open the buns and pile on the fillings!
- Hawaiian x 2! – Hawaiian Sweet Rolls combined with a delicious bbq & pineapple combo!
- Chicken-riffic! You can use rotisserie, pulled, shredded, frozen – any kind of chicken!

Hawaiian Roll Chicken Sliders Ingredients
This chicken slider recipe is so easy to make and have super simple ingredients! Six main ingredients and 10 minutes is all you need to get them in the oven. Here’s what you need:
- Kings Sweet Hawaiian Rolls – those sweet little buns of heaven are the base and so good! You could use regular little rolls too – but who wants that?
- Williamson Bros. BBQ sauce – you can use any bbq sauce but that’s my favorite! I like it so much I buy in bulk from the restaurant website! I use about half and give the other half away to spread my love!
- Mayonnaise – I’m strictly a Duke’s mayo girl but if you don’t like mayo – you could leave it out and go straight BBQ sauce.
- Pulled chicken – this could be rotisserie chicken, pulled chicken you make, diced chicken breast, canned chicken or frozen pulled chicken. I used the frozen variety for time-savings!
- Crushed pineapple – you can use any style – I like the crushed so it blends in more and just adds a touch of sweetness
- Provolone cheese – I like provolone because it’s fairly mild – but you can use what you like! You could also use a mild cheddar cheese.
- Glaze – sometimes these sliders get fancy with the glaze but I just wanted simple!
- Butter – I used salted butter – if you’re using unsalted – add a dash of salt
- Dijon mustard
- OPTIONAL: a dash of garlic powder, a sprinkle of sesame seeds or poppy seeds

Recipe Variations
I love these Hawaiian Chicken & Cheese Sliders just the way they are but feel free to make some tweaks based on what you like! Here are a few ideas:
- No Mayo – lose the mayo and go with all bbq sauce for a stronger flavor
- Swap Sweet – lose the pineapple and add pickled jalapenos for a spicier take! Add a dash of hot sauce to the glaze for more kick.
- Add veggies – green peppers or red onion would be great for crunch or saute for a few minutes for crunch and more flavor in the middle of those layers
- Ranch Up – Swap the BBQ/Mayo for ranch dressing

- Slice slider buns in half. Spray rectangular baking dish with non stick cooking spray. Place bottom buns in pan.
- In a large bowl, Whisk together your favorite bbq sauce and mayo. Add shredded chicken and toss to combine.
- Spread chicken mixture across bottom half of the rolls
- Spread drained pineapple on top of chicken
- Lay 5 slices of Provolone cheese on pineapple
- Add tops of buns onto sandwiches
- In a microwave safe small bowl, melt butter. Remove from microwave and whisk in mustard.
- Baste tops of rolls with butter mixture (you don’t have to use it all – discard any remaining glaze)
- Top baking dish loosely with aluminum foil.

Tips, Tricks & FAQs
Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass ones) in the refrigerator for up to a week. You can reheat in the microwave for 1-2 minutes but I prefer the oven at 350 – wrapped in foil – for 15 minutes or in the air fryer at 300 – wrapped in foil for 5 minutes.
You’ve got too much sauce and or you need a barrier between the bottom buns and the sauce. Place the cheese on the bottom of the layers to help seal the buns!
Either boneless skinless chicken breast or chicken thighs are the best. I like a combo of both so you get a little white meat and a little dark meat in every bite!
