Obviously – we know what healthy eating means – chicken, fish and veggies – but when you’re dining out at Cincinnati restaurants you can’t always look up the calories. So here are some great places to check out around Cinci!

Salad Options! (+ more)

Bite Restaurant – Bite is probably my favorite restaurant in the city. Everything is made from scratch and is delicious. Their blueberry salmon (shown above) is delightful! But the real star are their salads! My favorite is the cacao nib salad with grilled shrimp! Every salad has a ton of components and every salad is DELICIOUS. It gets super busy though – so if make reservations first.

Maplewood Kitchen – Maplewood has two locations: Downtown and Mason and it’s a very millennial hipster place with loads of avocado toast. They have great salads too – like the Chopped salad shown above. It’s packed with corn, haricots verts, goat cheese, bacon (you could ask to leave that off), avocado, pecans, fig, cherry tomatoes, roasted beets and a house vinaigrette. Wow – so much good stuff!

Bowls, Bowls, Bowls

Noodles & Co – Noodles has numerous locations around Cincinnati and while it is a chain – I had to include it on the list. They have a whole pdf of meals that are 500 calories or less! The one above is the Thai Green Curry Shrimp and it’s on the list!

CoreLife Eatery – CoreLife is a chain with one location here in the Tri-State in Hyde Park Plaza near Kroger. I absolutely love anyplace with a poke bowl and this one was really good! The poke was fresh and zingy! Yum! Their website has all of their calorie counts for their menu items too.

Wrap It Up!

Roly Poly – I love Roly Poly! They used to have multiple locations but now they just have one downtown and I’m so thankful! They deliver (super quick too – call them direct!!) They also have a bunch of light items – my favorite is the Chicken Popper Wrap. I would rather have a whole wrap instead of a half and chips – so that’s my regular order. They know me there…I order a LOT!

Fish is the Dish!

Fire at Rivercenter – Fire is in the former Behle Street location and they have a great menu with multiple healthier options. The special the night I went was an Opah fish – it was a hearty white fish. They also have salmon on the menu all the time. You could also do a combo of their mussels and a salad.

Buffalo Wings + Rings – Wings & Rings might not be the first place you think of – but they have some options! We got the blackened salmon sandwich during Lent this past year but they also have cauliflower wings (instead of chicken), portabella “burger”, veggie burger and salads (ooh with the buffalo chicken!!). Lots of Wings & Rings yum and while they are a chain – they’re actually based right here in Cincinnati!

Liberty Center has a bunch of options and I explored them all! there’s sushi at Kona Grill, ceviche at Cantina Laredo, salmon at Rusty Bucket, a whole light menu at Cheesecake Factory and even some grilled chicken from Deg’s. My favorites were probably Rusty Bucket or Cantina Laredo.

You can probably find healthy eats at most any restaurant – look at the menu and avoid anything with cheese, look for grilled proteins like chicken or fish and steer clear of the heavy carb side dishes. I hope this helps you explore someplace new in your healthy 2019 resolutions!
