Ingredients for Blackstone Chicken Wings

These Blackstone Chicken Wings have double the seasoning because we did a dry seasoning as well a sauce for tossing and dipping! Here’s what you need:

  • Chicken Wings – I did use separated wings with the mini legs and flats separated
  • Olive oil – you could also use vegetable oil or avocado oil.
  • BBQ seasoning for chicken – my favorite is Historic BBQ Red but there are a million delicious chicken wing seasonings and dry rubs out there!
  • Buffalo wing sauce – I like Kroger Mild Buffalo Sauce but this time I used a Kinder sauce and it was a little too spicy for me but very good! Just use your favorite wing sauce!

This recipe was made using the Blackstone Griddle.

Blackstone Chicken Wings Recipe Variations

  • More Chicken – you can use this same technique with any bone-in chicken on the Blackstone.
  • Marinade – feel free to use a marinade on the chicken wings vs. seasoning – just be sure to shake off any excess.
  • Seasoning Mix – there are so many seasoning blends out there – use your favorite seasonings! You can also make your own with spices such as kosher salt, garlic powder, paprika and black pepper.
  • BBQ Sauce – if you like your wings more BBQ than Buffalo – feel free to toss in that. I would recommend tossing AFTER cooking so the sugar in the BBQ sauce doesn’t stick to the griddle and burn.

How to make Chicken Wings on the Blackstone

Chicken Wings can be done anywhere! Whether you want to use your oven, your air fryer, your smoker, your grill – or even your outdoor griddle – you can have yummy chicken wing perfection! The nice thing about using the Blackstone is you can make a bunch of them all at once!!!

  1. Preheat a Blackstone grill over high heat (approximately 450 degrees F.)
  2. Dry the chicken with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. In a large bowl add wings, olive oil and bbq rub. Toss to coat.
  3. Place the chicken wings directly on the Blackstone grill in a single layer.   Let the chicken sit for 2-3 minutes to brown it.
  4. Flip the chicken and allow the chicken to brown on the opposite side (2-3 more minutes). This will get that crispy skin you want on your ribs without the deep fryer.
  5. Reduce the heat on the Blackstone grill to medium (around 350 degrees F). Move the wings to a wire rack on the Blackstone so they cook but don’t continue to brown. Cover with a cooking dome and cook for 10-15 more minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F when checked with a meat thermometer.
  6. Remove your griddle-cooked wings and serve with your favorite dipping sauces, carrots & celery sticks and enjoy! I – of course – dipped these in my favorite homemade ranch dressing! But blue cheese dressing works great as well!

Tips, Tricks & FAQs

How do you store and reheat leftover chicken wings?

Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass ones) in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat in the air fryer at 300º for 4 minutes.

Are these wings crispy?

No- the flat top grill isn’t going to make the crispiest wings because they aren’t deep-fried wings in oil – but the chicken still tastes great!

How can I make cleanup easier?

Cover the wire rack in aluminum foil and the cleanup on the Blackstone and wire rack will be a little less messy.

What if I don’t have a wire rack?

You can also put the wings in foil pan. The main objective is to get the wings directly off the cooking surface of the griddle.
