What You Will ❤️ About Stuffed Mushrooms

  • Cheesy – you can’t get much cheesier than Alfredo PLUS grated cheese!
  • Easy to Make – Alfredo sauce takes about 5 min to make – and is so much better than the jarred sauce! The whole dish is ready in 15-20 minutes from start to finish!
  • Crunch – The buttered bread crumbs add a nice crunchy topping to this delish appetizer!

Ingredients for Longhorn Steakhouse Stuffed Mushrooms

I’m a stuffed mushroom connoisseur – and these are at the top of the list with their cheese on cheese on cheese ingredients list. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 16 oz white button mushrooms, cleaned/dried/stems removed
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/4 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1.5 cups white cheddar cheese, grated
  • Homemade Alfredo Sauce (1-1.5 cups)
    • 3 tbsp butter salted
    • 1 tsp garlic minced
    • 2 tsp flour
    • 1 1/3 cup half and half
    • 2/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Longhorn Stuffed Mushroom Recipe Variations

  • Crunch – I used Italian breadcrumbs but if you want more crunch, use panko bread crumbs as they are chunkier and crunchier.
  • More cheese – blend cream cheese and Italian seasoning together and stuff the mushrooms before you coat them in Alfredo sauce. You could also use that garlic-herb cream cheese if you like that better!
  • Seasonings – there aren’t many seasonings in this – staying true to the OG – but for more flavor, you could easily sprinkle a teaspoon Worcestershire sauce over the mushrooms or add garlic powder and Italian seasoning to the bread crumbs

How to make Longhorn Stuffed Mushrooms recipe

I went to Longhorn Steakhouse to try these mushrooms and make sure that my copycat recipe would taste just like the restaurant version! Here’s how to make them:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375º. Spray cast iron skillet lightly with nonstick spray.
  2. Rub mushrooms with a damp paper towel to clean dirt from the mushrooms. Pat dry with a paper towel. Remove mushroom stems and set mushroom tops aside.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs, melted butter, salt & pepper. Set aside and let cool to room temperature.
  4. For the alfredo sauce. In a small pot over medium heat, melt butter.
  5. Add garlic and stir – turn heat to low. Add flour and whisk.
  6. Add half and half and Parmesan cheese and simmer – whisking constantly. Alfredo is “done” when it is creamy and cheese is all melted.
  7. Spoon half the Alfredo Sauce into the bottom of the pan. Set mushroom caps on top of the Alfredo.
  8. Spoon remaining Alfredo Sauce over mushrooms. Cover all mushrooms with white cheddar cheese. Top with butter breadcrumbs.
  9. Bake for 10 minutes. Switch oven from bake to Broil Low. Broil for 2-3 min until breadcrumbs are golden brown but watch very closely on broil so it doesn’t burn
  10. Remove baking dish from the oven. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve.

New Kitchen Tool Must-Have!

Ok – I know – none of us need ANOTHER kitchen tool – but TikTok got me with this one. It’s the rotary cheese grater. It suction cups to the counter with a slight turn of a dial. Then it GLIDES through Parmesan cheese like melted butter!!!! That was the selling point for me. It’s not hard to grate cheese – but Parmesan is a bit of a workout when you need so much! This made it EASY!!!!! So you might need this tool like I did! And I got red to match the rest of my kitchen appliances.

Tips, Tricks & FAQs

How do you store and reheat leftover stuffed mushrooms?

Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass ones) in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.

Are stuffed mushrooms good for you?

Not these!!!! So much cheese!

How do you keep stuffed mushrooms from getting soggy?

After rinsing to clean, be sure to pat dry. Then be sure to not use any water heavy ingredients like tomatoes, broth, etc.

Can you use other types of mushrooms?

Sure! Portobello mushrooms would be great as would Baby Bellas.

Can you make these in the air fryer?

Yes! You’ll want to use a pan that will fit in your air fryer and cook for 5-7 minutes at 400º.

  1. 5 stars
Just a few steps but very easy. We had these at Longhorn Steakhouse. So glad when I found the recipe on Pinterest. Very delicious.

  2. I don’t completely understand the recipe. When I get to the assembly it says to Spoon half the Alfredo Sauce into the bottom of the pan. Set mushroom caps into the dish on top of the Alfredo. What is the purpose of the sauce in the pan and the mushroom on a dish in the pan. I checked 2 places and it said the same thing both places.

I am very anxious to try this recipe so thank you in advance.

    1. Dish/pan are the same thing – you put the mushrooms on top of the alfredo sauce. It shows this in the photo. Enjoy
