Olive Garden’s new spicy three-meat sauce is just a variation of their regular meat sauce. We’re swapping out the carrots and celery and replacing with hot Italian sausage and pepperoni! This is in addition to the ground beef & onion in the original recipe.

What I like about making this sauce is that you can customize the sauce to your liking! Here are some ideas:

  • Mild Spice Level – just like a little spice? Add red pepper flakes
  • Super Spicy – add more red pepper flakes and use a spicy Italian sausage
  • Semi-Homemade – use a jarred marinara sauce like Rao’s and then add the meats to it
  • Veggies – if you like more veggies – add bell pepper, carrots and mushrooms when you’re sautéing the onion.

How to make Olive Garden Spicy 3 Meat Sauce

This sauce is easy to make and goes together quickly. You can have it on the table in just 30 minutes! Saute the meats & veggies and then add tomatoes and seasonings – that’s it!

  1. SAUTE – Heat oil in large skillet or Dutch oven and saute onions, pepper & garlic.
  2. MEAT – Add ground beef and sausage and cook 10 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Add in pepperoni and stir to combine.
  3. DEGLAZE – Deglaze pan with wine and reduce until liquid is nearly gone.
  4. TOMATOES – Add tomatoes and herbs and stir.
  5. SIMMER – Cover and simmer for about 10 minutes. Add red pepper flakes
  6. SERVE – over bucatini (or your favorite pasta)

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small sweet yellow onion finely diced
  • 1 red bell pepper diced
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic cloves
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb hot Italian sausage
  • 1/4 lb pepperoni diced
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp rosemary
  • 1/4 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in Dutch Oven.
    2 tbsp olive oil
  • Add onion, bell pepper and garlic and cook about 5 minutes.

  • Add ground beef and sausage and cook 10 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Add in pepperoni and stir to combine.
    1/2 lb ground beef, 1/2 lb hot Italian sausage, 1/4 lb pepperoni
  • Deglaze pan with wine and reduce until liquid is nearly gone.
    1 cup red wine
  • Add tomatoes, salt, rosemary and sage and stir.
    28 oz crushed tomatoes, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp rosemary, 1/4 tsp dried sage
  • Cover and simmer for about 1 hour, stirring frequently.
  • Add red chili flakes and stir. 
    1 tsp red chili flakes
  • Serve sauce mixture over bucatinii!
