This Crispy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich will be your new favorite! Juicy chicken breast topped with a crunchy mixture of hot pretzels, cheddar cheese and melted butter. It’s a super simple recipe, crunchier than ever and there’s no frying!
What You Will ❤️ About This Crispy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich
- Easy!!!! There’s no mess of buttermilk and flour and dredge! Make your topping and you’re done!
- CRUNCHY! You can’t get crunchier than this sandwich with our secret ingredient – hot buffalo wing pretzels!
- Sammich! Everybody loves a sandwich and this is truly a super delicious chicken sandwich!
Crispy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich Ingredients
This is a little different take instead of the normal breaded and fried sandwich – chicken breasts with a crunchy buffalo topping! Just as delicious and less mess!
- Boneless Skinlesss Chicken Breasts – for sandwiches – 4-6 oz chicken breasts are a good size.
- Duke’s Mayonnaise
- Buffalo Wing Sauce – I like the Kroger brand but you can use whatever hot sauce you prefer
- Hot Buffalo Pretzels – I’m pretty much ADDICTED to these pretzel pieces!
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Salted butter
- Brioche buns, Lettuce, Tomatoes & Pickle slices
Recipe Variations
I love this recipe because you can make some little tweaks based on your tastes!
- No Buns – this is a great dish as an entree too without the buns!
- Air Fryer – instead of baking in the oven, pop these buffalo chicken breasts in the air fryer and cook for 12 minutes at 360º
- Pork Chops – you could easily swap out the chicken breasts for boneless pork chops
- Spicier – use a hotter sauce and maybe a little cayenne pepper to the pretzel mixture for more heat
- Cheese – you could also add in blue cheese with the cheddar for additional bite!
Ohio Owned: Woeber’s Mustard
I first made this recipe years ago and instead of mixing together Buffalo Sauce & mayonnaise – I used this Woeber’s Buffalo Mayonnaise. Woeber’s Mustard Factory is an Ohio company based out of Springfield, OH
Woeber’s might not be a name you recognize but they’ve been around for over 100 years! Not only do they make the standard yellow mustard – they make 50 other products in addition to being a supplier and packager for other well-known brands.
But of course the star of the show is the mustard! If you want yellow, brown, dijon, horseradish, sriracha, jalapeno, Dusseldorf, honey, craft beer, deli, whole grain, champagne dill or even cranberry honey – Woeber’s makes it!! Did you have any idea that there were that many kinds of mustard??? I didn’t!!! Holy moly!
How to Make a Crispy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich
I love the no-mess of this recipe! Making regular “fried” chicken is a labor of love but it’s a mess! This is just as crunch and so much easier!
- Preheat oven to 350, prep baking pan and cover with a sheet of parchment paper or aluminum foil. Lay chicken breasts on parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise and wing sauce. Spread the sauce on top of each of the chicken breasts.
- In a medium bowl, mix together crushed buffalo pretzels, cheddar cheese and melted butter
- Top your chicken breast with the pretzel & cheese filling and press topping into the chicken breast
- Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350º until golden brown or until the internal temperature of the chicken breast at the thickest part is 155-160º
- Remove from oven and serve on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomatoes and pickle slices and a squirt of ranch dressing!

Tips, Tricks & FAQs
If you have larger chicken breasts, cut them in half (just across the middle – no need to try and butterfly them). Then, lay on a cutting board and cover with plastic wrap or parchment paper. Use the flat side of a meat tenderizer or mallet to pound them out to an even thickness. You could also use a rolling pin to pound the chicken as well.
Yes! If you have an air fryer – just pop them in at 360º for 1-2 minutes. Or put them in the oven – cut side up – for the last five minutes of baking.
Store leftover buffalo chicken in an airtight container (I like these glass storage ones) in the fridge for up to a week. Reheat in the air fryer at 300º for 4-5 minutes. This way the pretzels will stay crunchy!

I really like many of your products, since I am unable to get out to shop, my shopper always brings something I don't want. Lol. I especially love horseradish and its been a long time since I had it. I would be very pleased to win a bottle of it.
