With the holidays fast approaching, quick and easy side dishes are always needed! This Jarlsberg Dip Macaroni Salad is going to be a sure fire hit at your dinner table! Plus it’s SO SIMPLE to make!
Jarlsberg Dip is one of my favorite party dips – it always goes quick and it only takes a few minutes to make up. After making it for years – I thought man – this would be great with some macaroni! And now – we have Jarlsberg Dip Macaroni Salad! It’s cheesy, creamy and crunchy – SO GOOD!
What’s in Jarlsberg Dip?
Jarlsberg Dip is a really popular side that you can find at Kroger stores. It’s great with any kind of crackers and has Jarlsberg cheese (of course), mayonnaise, red onion, a touch of milk and a touch of lemon juice.
If you’re not familiar Jarlsberg is actually a Norwegian cheese – it was made by Swiss cheesemakers who then moved to Norway – which is why most people think it’s Swiss cheese. And if you can’t find Jarlsberg – a good Swiss is an easy substitute.
How do you make Jarlsberg Dip Macaroni Salad?
I found it so easy! I cooked up 1/2 pound of macaroni and while that boils, make up your Jarlsberg Dip. Now that on it’s own – was good – but I wanted to add some additional crunch! For that added crunch, I tossed in diced/shredded carrots as well as diced red & yellow peppers. From there a pinch of salt and it’s ready to go! When your macaroni is cooked, give it a rinse in cold water and let it cool so it doesn’t melt the cheese – then stir it all together and refrigerate. You’ll likely want to add another plop of mayo as the pasta will absorb the mayo pretty quickly.
If you’re looking to jazz it up even more, you could add diced hardboiled egg, diced pickles and even some ham for protein. Ham & Swiss are always a great combination!
The thing I love about this salad too is it’s a great way to use up leftover Jarlsberg Dip – so make some for the appetizer portion and then whatever you have left – add your macaroni in and it’s a whole new dish!
