Pork Steak in the air fryer is not only a super quick supper – from fridge to table in just 15 minutes – it’s also delicious and juicy! Pork steak is a little more forgiving than a boneless pork chop so it’s tender every time. Add a little bbq seasoning and you’re done!

What You Will Love About Pork Steak in the Air Fryer

You’ll love how simple it is to make and how juicy the pork steak comes out. Be sure to check the temp and cook to 145º. A blush of pink on the inside is perfect!! (and safe!)

Because it takes just about 10 minutes to cook, it’s great with many vegetable side dishes in the air fryer as well. Move that pork steak over and add your asparagus for the 2nd half of cooking – or whatever veggie you like!

Ingredients to make Pork Steak in the Air Fryer

Mainly – you just need the steak. I bought a 2-pack at Kroger for about $10. You just need a few simple ingredients:

  • 1.5 lb pork steak – Pork steaks vary in size – the ones I used were 4″ across x 9″ long x .75″ thick and were bone-in
    • You can purchase a variety of sizes of pork steak and bone-in or boneless. If you’re cooking steaks larger or thicker – it may take a minute or two more to cook.
  • 4 tsp bbq pork rub or steak seasoning
    • Pork Steak goes well with most seasonings – so choose one with flavors you like – I’ve used a bbq rub for pork (like you would use on ribs) – or just a steak seasoning
    • No need for any extra salt or pepper as that is in the seasoning – they also usually contain garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika and more – all in one bottle
  • 2-3 tbsp bbq sauce – again – use what you like and what’s in your fridge

What are Pork Steaks

First – pork STEAKS are NOT pork CHOPS!!!

Pork STEAK is a cut of pork taken from the pork shoulder. This cut are also often times called pork blade steaks. They come from the area above the shoulder blade. Pork steak is a little fattier – which is great because it won’t dry out as quickly.

Pork CHOPS are from the loin between the hip and the shoulder. Loin chops are often boneless and much more lean. Rib chops have the bone and a bit more fat – but they’re still more lean than a pork steak.

Tips, Tricks & FAQs

What temperature do you cook pork steaks on?

These are cooked at 380º because you want the outside to “sear” a bit – as much as it can in the air fryer.

How long does pork take in the air fryer?

Well that’s a loaded question because it all depends on the cut of pork – but I would say an average of 8-10 minutes. Don’t overcook it! Check it with a meat thermometer – it’s done at 145º.

Can I make pork steak in the oven?

Yes – follow the same recipe but cook for 15-18 minutes in the oven.

How do you store and reheat leftover pork steak?

Store leftovers in airtight containers and refrigerate up to a week – or freeze up to three months. Reheat in the microwave for 1-2 minutes or in the air fryer at 250º for 3-4 minutes.
