Chinese Chicken & Green Beans Ingredients

One of the big reasons I love stir-fries is that I can use ingredients I have on hand! Once you make a Chinese recipe – you buy the sauces and have them whenever you need them!

  • Ground Chicken – Lean ground chicken keeps this stir fry high in protein and lighter than many takeout versions. You can also use ground turkey, ground pork or even ground beef – heck go for sliced steak, diced boneless skinless chicken breast or chicken thighs if you like!
  • Vegetables – mushrooms, red onion and green beans
    • I used frozen green beans – so easy and cook in less time than fresh green beans!
    • Add all the veggies you like – broccoli, zucchini, asparagus, etc
  • Seasonings – garlic, Chinese Five Spice and sesame seeds
    • If you don’t have Chinese Five Spice – you could use Allspice or Garam Masala. It’s got a very unique scent – so you can pick up a jar and you might be surprised how often you’ll use it!
    • If you’d like it to be spicy – add a pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Sauces – Sesame oil, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar and honey
    • You can use apple cider vinegar or even white wine vinegar + sugar (1 tbsp : 1/4 tsp) if you don’t have rice wine vinegar.
    • You could use brown sugar or maple syrup if you’re out of honey.

How to serve Chinese Chicken

You can get as low-carb as you want with this one – there is a little honey in the dish but other than that – you can eat it on its own! But if you want to serve it on something – you have options!

  • Rice – I am nearly addicted to Basmati rice – so that’s my first choice but you could also use cauliflower rice or jasmine rice.
  • Lettuce Cups – grab a small head of Boston lettuce and eat it like you would PF Changs Lettuce Wraps
  • Sweet Potato – serve over a baked sweet potato – the dish has a little sweetness that would pair nicely!
  • Noodles – whether it’s ramen or rice noodles – this stir-fry would be great on noodles as well!
