What You Will ❤️ About Smoked Peach Cobbler
- Crunchy topping! This is my favorite part of this cobbler recipe! The crunchy sugar topping is so delicious and adds a touch of additional sweetness to the dish! It’s my secret ingredient!!
- Flexibility! You can use frozen, fresh or canned peaches – whatever you have!
- Feeds a Crowd! Making this in a Dutch oven – this cobbler serves 8-10 people! Or me for 8 days – haha!

Peach Cobbler Ingredients
I used my Mom’s peach cobbler recipe for this Smoked Cobbler and it came out perfect! Here’s what you’ll need to make it:
- Peaches – You can use frozen, fresh or canned. I recommend FROZEN for ease of use. If using CANNED, be sure to drain the peaches!
- Cobbler: Sugar, unsalted butter, salt, all purpose flour, baking powder, milk
- Optional: you could add a little vanilla extract for more sweet flavor
- Topping: Sugar, corn starch, salt & water
- Optional: you could add 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon to the sugar mixture

How to Make Smoked Peach Cobbler
This recipe is super easy on the Traeger! You can speed up the cook time if you raise the temp to 300º or higher – but you won’t get as much of the smoke flavor into the cobbler.
- Preheat Traeger (or your smoker) to 250º. Spray cast iron Dutch oven with nonstick spray and spread peach slices across bottom of pan.
- In medium mixing bowl, cream sugar & softened butter so sugar is fully incorporated and mixture is fluffy and creamy.
- Add dry ingredients (salt, flour, baking powder) and milk and stir to make a batter. If batter is super thick, add 1-2 tbsp more milk.
- Spread batter over fruit in Dutch oven.
- In a small bowl, mix together sugar, corn starch and salt. Sprinkle over top of batter.
- Pour 1/4 cup boiling water over all of the sugar on top of the batter. Be sure all sugar is coated with water.
- Smoke on Traeger at 250º for 4 hours or until cobbler cake topping is golden brown. Check doneness with a toothpick – it should come out clean when the center is cooked.
- You can speed up the cooking time by increasing the temperature. 300º would take 2 hours, 350º would take 1-1.5 hours.
- Remove from Traeger and let cool. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped topping!

Tips, Tricks & FAQs
What kind of wood pellets should I use to smoke my turkey?
There are many flavors of pellets that work in your Traeger pellet grill. I keep it simple and always use the Traeger Signature Blend which is a blend of Maple and Cherry. That said if you’re looking for something specific for desserts – use woods with a hint of sweetness like Pecan, Apple and Cherry.
I recommend frozen because they’re so easy and always delicious. Fresh would be my second choice. Canned is my last choice because they’re already fairly soft. If you do use canned – be sure to drain them well or you’ll have a ton of juice in your cobbler.
If you are using fresh peaches – yes – be sure to peel them! You don’t want fuzzy skin in your cobbler!
Yes – the lower the temp – the longer it will take. If you bump up the temp to 300º or even 350º – it will cook in 1-2 hours but you’ll have less of that smoky flavor.
Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass ones) in the refrigerator for up to a week. You can freeze up to three months. Reheat in the microwave for 1 minute.

Recipe Variations
- Fruit – switch peaches for other fruit like blueberries, apples or raspberries or use a pie filling like cherry
- Cast Iron Pan – if you just have 2 cups of peaches – you can make a smaller batch in a cast iron skillet.
- Cinnamon – feel free to add a little cinnamon to the sugar topping mixture.
- Brown Sugar – swap out the white sugar for brown sugar and have an even richer cake topping! I recommend light-brown sugar if making the swap.
