What You Will ❤️ About Texas Roadhouse Ranch
- Thick! I can always tell good ranch by it’s thickness and creamy texture! This is the good stuff!
- Easy to Make – There’s no need to buy ranch dressing ever again! I made this in 3 minutes!
- Versatile – I love homemade ranch because you can use it as a chip dip, sauce for chicken tendies or dressing on salad. So many uses for good ranch!

Simple key ingredients make up this delicious and famous Roadhouse Ranch dressing with the same taste as you’ll get at the restaurant! This dressing is great on a salad but also great as a dip for the Texas Roadhouse Smothered Chicken!
- Buttermilk – I typically have a small container of buttermilk in the fridge – it’s great as a layer for breading. But if you don’t have any – you can use a powdered version or make your own:
- Homemade Buttermilk: To 1/2 cup of milk, stir in 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar. Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes.
- Substitute: Sour Cream or Nonfat Greek Yogurt – if you don’t have or want to make it – you could use sour cream
- Tip: Use full fat everything to recreate the real flavor of Texas Roadhouse
- Mayonnaise – I’m a big fan of Duke’s Mayo – especially for recipes where the mayo is so important to the dish! Duke’s has the tangy flavor you need!
- Ranch Seasoning Mix – Of course I’m a Hidden Valley girl! Someone recently emailed me that I use buckets of ranch. Yup…I do! This is full of cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, parsley and more spices.

- Bacon – cook up 3 slices of bacon and chop and add to dressing
- Pickle – add in 1/4 cup diced pickle and 2 tbsp pickle juice (or try this dill pickle ranch recipe)

Tips, Tricks & FAQs
Store one batch of leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass ones with clamped lids) in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Sure – just add a little milk or buttermilk to the dressing and it will loosen up. Add it just 1 tbsp at a time until you get the consistency you like. Regular milk is fine for this part – as it’s much thinner than Buttermilk.
Well – it’s a simple side salad with romaine, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, hard boiled egg and croutons – then – it’s always better topped with their famous Ranch! How could it not be good! They also serve it REALLY COLD!
