Can you cook canned or frozen biscuits in the air fryer?

I'm pretty air fryer obsessed and I'm in a bunch of Facebook groups where people are sharing air fryer recipes and asking questions. One question I see quite often is: "Can you bake frozen or canned biscuits in the air fryer?"

The answer most definitely is YES! And I've found they can be a little persnickety though - so I've done the testing for you! I definitely had to pitch some along the way - so let this be your guide.

What air fryer should I buy?

Most likely - if you're reading this - you already have an air fryer - but if you want to buy one as a gift this holiday season - or just decide you need another one - my recommendation is the Philips XL Air Fryer

It's definitely not the cheapest one - but it's high quality. I use my air fryer a minimum of 4x a week - so I need a durable air fryer that's going to last. My friend recommended the Philips XL and I have not been disappointed! I would say - it's good for 1-2 people - if you have a larger family - go for the XXL version for more capacity.

Because I'm just one person - and my air fryer has the square basket - I went for the smallest can sizes - but if you have a larger air fryer the times should be the same.

How to cook canned cinnamon rolls in an air fryer

These are super simple - and it sets up the rule of thumb to use for most things air fryer - half the time as the directions say! And always go with less time - even 1-2 minutes less can make a big difference.

I should note that these are the small cinnamon rolls with the cinnamon topping. I was able to fit all five in the air fryer at once, cinnamon topping up and baked them at 375 for 5.5 minutes. After baking, I topped them with the frosting of course.

How to bake canned crescent rolls in an air fryer

These are easy peasy - pop open the crescent rolls, split the triangles up, roll them and in they go. There were only 4 and they fit very easily into my air fryer. Crescent rolls puff up A LOT in the air fryer. I baked these at 350 for 5.5 minutes. If your air fryer doesn't do 30 seconds - then just do it for 6 minutes and stop it a little early. The extra 30 seconds will probably be fine - but just watch it. :-)

Cooking canned biscuits in an air fryer

These are my favorite biscuits - Pillsbury buttery flaky ones!!! These - again - half the time - baked at 400 for 5.5 minutes. There were five biscuits and they easily fit in my air fryer. I love how golden brown they get and they seriously puff up more than in the oven!!!

Baking frozen biscuits in an air fryer

I always keep a bag of frozen Grands biscuits in my freezer - they're perfect since I'm on my own now. I can just grab 1-2 and pop them in the air fryer oven. These are the ones I've overcooked the most often!!! But I now know - bake frozen Grands at 350 for 10.5 minutes in your air fryer!

Can you bake frozen Rhodes dinner rolls in an air fryer?

Again - of course you can! These took the most work because you have to let them rise first. I got home and too out the rolls and put them in a dish to rise for 3-5 hours at room temperature. I just set them on my counter with plastic wrap over the top. You can see in the photo that they definitely doubled in size. After that - into the air fryer - again - HALF THE TIME as directed! Rhodes dinner rolls bake at 350 for 8 minutes and they were perfect!!!

And there you have it - the temps for all the canned & frozen biscuits and rolls! If you have another roll/biscuit I should test for you - just let me know!

  1. Thank you so very much perfect right before the holidays! I have Rhodes rolls to bake for Thanksgiving so great to know I don't have to wait for the oven.

    1. No problem! Glad to help! I'd never had the Rhodes rolls - they are delicious!!!!! And quicker in the AF!
