4 Ingredient Slow Cooker Chicken & Stuffing
This 4 Ingredient Slow Cooker Chicken & Stuffing is the ultimate set it and forget it dinner, with shredded chicken, boxed stuffing and a creamy gravy that all cooks together. Just two things to know: no need to prep the stuffing first (it all goes in dry), and don’t let it cook past 6 hours or the chicken turns rubbery!
Total time: 6 hours 5 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Best for: Busy weeknights or an easy comfort food dinner
Why You’ll Love This Crockpot Chicken and Stuffing
- Only 4 ingredients: Chicken, stuffing mix, cream of chicken soup and sour cream.
- 5-minute prep: There’s no chopping, browning or precooking.
- One-pot dinner: Everything cooks together right in the Crockpot.
- Comfort food: Creamy chicken + savory stuffing = basically Thanksgiving dinner without the relatives. 😂

4 Ingredient Crockpot Chicken and Stuffing Ingredients
Think of this as an easy Crockpot chicken and stuffing casserole. You get tender chicken, creamy sauce and savory stuffing all in one scoop without turning on the oven. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Chicken breasts work great for this recipe, but you can also use boneless skinless chicken thighs. Thighs stay especially juicy during the longer Crockpot cooking time.
- Can I use frozen chicken breasts? It’s best to thaw your chicken first. You don’t want to risk your chicken sitting in the danger zone (sitting at a point where bacteria can double) for too long. Thaw in the fridge overnight to be safe.
- Can I leave my breasts whole or cut them first? Whole is good. That’s what makes this recipe so simple. You just throw it in there and you’ll have a low-effort dinner!
- Cream of Mushroom Soup or Cream of Chicken Soup – you could use any cream soup – cream of celery would also work! I used two cans for this recipe because I like a lot of gravy. You could also do one can of soup and a cup sour cream.
- Stove Top Stuffing makes this recipe ridiculously easy. I use Savory Herb flavor, but turkey or chicken stuffing will work too.
- Chicken Broth – don’t have any? Add 1 cup water instead!
Supplies Used
- Slow Cooker – this is the most important tool for this recipe! This is the exact slow cooker that I use and I couldn’t recommend it more!
- Meat Shredders – these are so helpful when shredding chicken in your slow cooker, I recommend that everyone have a pair of these on hand!
- Meat Thermometer – you don’t want to mess around when it comes to the temperature of chicken. Having one of these on hand can help you ensure that your chicken is nice and safe!

Optional Ingredients
This chicken & stuffing recipe is delicious on it’s own but it is crying out for veggies! Here are some ideas for seasonings & veggies to add if you like:
- Veggies: frozen green beans, sliced carrots or frozen peas – I recommend frozen to be sure they don’t turn to mush!
- Seasonings: Salt & Pepper (although the soups are fairly salty), Garlic Powder or Lawry’s Seasoning Salt would also be good. Taste a bite of the gravy and add what you think it needs. (I loved it as-is because of the seasoning from the stuffing!)

How to Make 4 Ingredient Slow Cooker Chicken & Stuffing
This 4 ingredient chicken and stuffing couldn’t be easier – it will take less than five minutes to put together!
- SPRAY slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray and place chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- IN LARGE BOWL, combine the chicken broth, soup and stuffing mix. Mix it well until everything is combined. Pour stuffing mixture over the top of the chicken. (If you have a little leftover broth – you can pour broth into pot around the chicken as well – it will just make a little saucier gravy!)
- COVER the crockpot and cook on high for 4 hours, or low for 6 hours.
- The texture won’t change much at all – it really just depends on how long you have before dinner needs to be ready.
- Don’t go over 6 hours to keep your chicken moist and not rubbery.
- SHRED chicken in the crockpot and mix with the stuffing and serve with your favorite vegetables.
Some folks serve with rice or mashed potatoes but I think it’s starchy enough with the stuffing mix and just served with a big side of steamed broccoli!
How to Keep Crockpot Stuffing from Getting Soggy
You can adjust the amount of chicken broth to use if you don’t want as much gravy – or a dryer stuffing. The broth mixes with the soup to give it a gravy-like texture. If that’s not your thing – just add 1/2 cup broth.
