What You Will ❤️ About Air Fryer Lasagna

  • Quicker – When you bake lasagna in the oven it takes at least an hour – the air fryer cuts that back to about 30 minutes!
  • Layers – Add as many layers as your pan will allow! I love the mix of textures from the fluffy ricotta, al dente pasta, chunky sausage and melty mozzarella!
  • Comforting – There’s just something comforting about lasagna – every bite warms you from the fork to your belly!

This recipe was made using the Paula Deen Air Fryer.

Air Fryer Lasagna

Ingredients for Lasagna

This is a pretty traditional lasagna – Italian sausage, lasagna noodle and lots of cheese!

  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce – I like Rao’s but use your favorite pasta sauce
  • 2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 sheets No-Boil Lasagna Noodles – you can use the traditional noodles and boil them but I went the quick route!
  • 10 fresh basil leaves – no fresh basil, sprinkle Italian seasoning in the layers
  • 16 oz mozzarella cheese, grated

Air Fryer Lasagna Recipe Variations

Feel free to put your own spin on the lasagna – here are some of my favorite ideas:

  • Vegetables – add sauteed veggies into the layers like broccoli, zucchini, onion or mushrooms
  • Individual is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry.
  • Sauce – you can change it up by making your own meat sauce or alfredo sauce and swap with the jarred sauce
  • Protein – I love Italian sausage but you could swap and use ground beef, ground pork, ground turkey or get crazy and use slices of meatballs!

How to make Lasagna in the Air Fryer

Lasagna isn’t hard to make – it can just be a little time consuming and a little messy. You need to gather all the components and then layer up! But the mess is fun – you can lick your fingers!

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the sausage and break it up into small crumbles. Drain off any excess fat and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mix ricotta, eggs, parmesan, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Spray an 8×8 inch baking dish with cooking spray. (Or one that will fit into your air fryer). Remove any tray in your air fryer.
  4. To assemble: add a few spoonfuls of marinara sauce to the bottom of the baking dish. Top with lasagna noodles (break to fit and cover bottom of dish). Be sure all lasagna noodles are covered with sauce/cheese this will ensure they cook and soften. Layer with 2-3 spoonfuls of ricotta mixture (smooth over the noodles), then sausage crumbles, 2-3 torn basil leaves and then a handful of mozzarella to cover. Add a few spoonfuls of sauce and repeat the layers. As you add each layer of lasagna noodles, press down a bit. Finish the top with mozzarella cheese and basil.
  5. Cover pan tightly with foil wrapping underneath the dish (so it doesn’t blow off) and place in air fryer basket and cook at 340º for 25 minutes. Lower temp to 280º, remove foil and Air fry for another 5 minutes.
  6. Let stand about 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with more parmesan cheese and chopped fresh basil.
  7. Serve with a side salad and garlic bread.

Tips, Tricks & FAQs

How do you store and reheat leftover lasagna?

Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass ones) in the refrigerator for up to a week. You can freeze up to three months. Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 2 minutes.

Can I make individual lasagnas in my air fryer?

Yes! You can make smaller, ramekin-sized lasagnas in the air fryer. The best cooking time recommendation is 350º for 10 min covered in foil and then remove foil, turn temp down to 280º and air fry 4 min longer.

How long does lasagne take in the air fryer?

It’ll take just about 30 minutes to “bake” your lasagna in the air fryer!

Can you air fry pre-made lasagna?

Yes! Be sure to cover with foil so the top doesn’t burn. Start with half the time – and lower the temp a bit to 350º.
