This Copycat Chuy’s Creamy Jalapeno dip recipe from Chuy’s is spicy and delicious. Plus, it’s ready in 5 minutes and the flavor when you make it from scratch is so much better than any ranch out of a bottle!

Chuy’s is one of my favorite spots for Tex Mex food and after trying their Creamy Jalapeno Ranch on my latest visit – I went home and HAD to make it for myself!
And – if you haven’t had it – you MUST try their Tres Leches Cake!!! Yeah – I did a copycat recipe of that too! I kept going every year for my birthday – so I had to figure out how to have it whenever I wanted!

What’s in Chuy’s Creamy Jalapeño Dip?
If you go to Chuy’s – no matter what you order – be sure to ask for their Creamy Jalapeno Dip – it’s great on tacos, with tortilla chips or heck – just eat it with a spoon! Here’s what you need:
- packet of Ranch seasoning
- buttermilk
- mayonnaise – I always use Duke’s Mayo
- limes – 1-2 depending on how much lime you like
- jalapeno – I used a medium sized pepper – you can add a 2nd if you really like it spicy – seeds and all go in the dip!
- I like using fresh raw jalapenos – because I think they’re stronger. If you don’t have a fresh one – you can also finely mince up pickled jalapenos and add them.
- You can also use the canned green chiles if you like
- hot sauce – use your favorite variety

How to make Chuy’s Jalapeño Ranch?
Chuy’s Jalapeno Ranch Dip is super easy to make – just a few steps and you’re done. You can use a food processor or blender if you like – but I didn’t.
- In a medium mixing bowl, stir together ranch dip packet, buttermilk and mayo
- Using a grater, grate whole jalapenos on the smallest grate directly into the dressing
- Grate everything – seeds and all – right to the stem!
- Add fresh lime juice and hot sauce
- Blend and refrigerate overnight
- Taste – if you want it spicier, add another jalapeno or more hot sauce
- I didn’t add salt because the ranch mix has salt in it – but if you taste it and want more – feel free to add some
I like to make this salad dressing the night before I’m going to use it – chilling it gives the flavors a chance to meld together. Then – give it another taste and see if you want more lime, more hot sauce or a little salt! I added a 2nd lime and some hot sauce. You could also do a spicier pepper if you really want spice in there!

Is there cilantro or sour cream in Chuys Creamy Jalapeno Dip?
No! I did dice up some fresh cilantro on the items I served with the ranch – but in the dressing itself is the ranch seasoning mix, mayo, buttermilk, jalapeno and hot sauce. That’s it!
The texture of this is a dressing – and not as thick as a “chip dip”. If you like your ranch a thicker consistency – add a little more mayo and less buttermilk. If you like your ranch dressing thinner – then add more buttermilk and less mayo.

So this ranch is delish – and it’s great to dip veggies in (like my Jalapeno Fries – recipe coming soon!) but it’s also great on salads. Here are a few favorite salads that would taste great with this jalapeno ranch recipe:
