Air Fryer Chicken Thigh Recipe Ingredients

Super simple recipe with just 5 ingredients – here’s what you need:

  • Boneless skinless chicken thighs – 1 lb of chicken thighs should feed 3-4 people
  • Seasoning Mix – I like this mix because every ingredient adds a punch of flavor
    • Olive Oil – because you’re using olive oil, no need for cooking spray
    • Garlic Salt
    • Ancho Chili Powder – you can use any chili powder or even Tajin if you like a punch of lime!
    • Onion Powder
    • OPTIONAL SPICES TO USE: garlic powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, lemon pepper

How to Make Air Fryer Boneless Chicken Thighs

Chicken Thighs are great in the air fryer because the quick cooking seals in the juiciness and they don’t get dried out!

  • Rinse chicken thighs and pat dry with a paper towel.
    • Be sure to open up the chicken thighs since they are typically folded over when packaged.

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, garlic salt, onion powder and Chile powder
  • Add chicken thighs to dish with seasoning mixture and coat completely
  • Place chicken thighs in air fryer basket in a single layer 
    • Line with parchment paper liner for easier clean up

  • Air fry at 380º for 15 minutes – turning halfway thru.
    • Check internal temperature with an instant read meat thermometer placed into the thickest part of the chicken thigh. Internal temperature of the chicken should be 165º.
  • Remove from basket with tongs and serve with fresh parsley

Do I need to preheat the air fryer for chicken thighs?

I don’t typically preheat my air fryer – so no – you don’t need to.

Can I use bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs instead?

Yes for sure! Here’s a recipe for skin-on chicken thighs that you’ll love!

Can I air fry chicken breasts instead of chicken thighs?

Yes! I ONLY use the air fryer to cook chicken breasts. They only take 12 minutes and they are better than any other cooking method!

Can I season the chicken ahead of time?

Definitely! You can season these ahead of time. Cover and refrigerate up to 24 hours.

What temperature should boneless skinless chicken thighs be cooked to?

These cook quickly and I cook at 380º F in the air fryer for 15 minutes.

How do you store and reheat leftover chicken thighs?

Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass ones for storage) in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat in the microwave for 1-2 minutes or in the air fryer at 250º for 5-7 minutes.

  • Spicy – the ancho chili powder is delicious but if you want more kick – feel free to add red pepper flakes
  • Marinade – my favorite chicken marinade is the one I used on these chicken kabobs!
