Air Fryer Cabbage Steaks are one of the healthiest side dishes and they are done in 10 minutes! I dabbed on just a bit of my favorite salad dressing to make them even tastier.
Cabbage is such a healthy veggie because it’s packed with nutrients and vitamins. Cabbage also helps improve digestion (#need) plus it can help keep your heart healthy, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure and can even keep inflammation down (helps my old lady. knees!)

Ingredients for Cabbage Steaks in the Air Fryer
Mainly – you need cabbage – but I like to use a pre-made salad dressing to add oil and seasoning for these steaks.
- 1 head green cabbage
- 2 tbsp Greek salad dressing – you can use Greek, Italian or even Caesar dressing – anything you like the taste of!
- If not using salad dressing, you can sprinkle with seasonings like an Italian seasoning blend or something as simple as garlic powder and then spray with cooking spray or olive oil
- 1 tsp coarse sea salt

How do you make cabbage steaks in the air fryer?
- Slice cabbage into 1.5” thick slices
- Lay steaks in air fryer basket
- Pour dressing on steaks and brush to coat. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt
- Air fry at 375 for 5 min
- Flip steaks and brush again with dressing, sprinkle with salt and air fry additional 5 min
- Serve with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes
Bacon & Onion Variation
If you’d like, you could add a couple slices of bacon and some onion rings to the air fryer basket. Then dice and serve on top of your cabbage steaks.

Tips, Tricks & FAQs
Heck yeah! I’ve also done cabbage in bite size pieces with just olive oil and salt – but I love this “steak” version. No matter how you slice it – air fryer cabbage is done in 10-12 minutes at 375. Cabbage softens up quickly and takes on the flavors you add to it. I made it with a simple chicken breast and dinner was served!
I think the air fryer is the magic to making cabbage not be soggy. The air frying cooks it so it is tender but also a little crispy on the outside. Sooooo good!
You’re going to want to peel off the loose outer layers of the cabbage. This will help you keep them in slices. After that, prop the cabbage on its side and slice all the way through. Cut slabs at least 1″ thick if not a little more.
Air fryer cabbage steaks can be as simple as olive oil, salt and pepper – I like to use vinaigrette dressings – in this case I used Greek dressing. Then your seasonings are all done! And cabbage is so healthy – you’re not adding many calories.
Store any leftover cabbage steaks in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350º for 3 minutes.
