Air Fryer Sliced Potatoes Recipe Ingredients

These sliced potatoes are a perfect side dish to pair with salads and vegetables. All you need are potatoes and your favorite seasonings.

  • 4 Yukon gold potatoes – this will serve four. If just making enough for 2 – you only need two potatoes.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Seasoning Mix: This is based on the Taco John’s Potato Ole seasoning – it’s a bit spicy – so if you’re not a fan of spicy – just leave out the cayenne pepper

How to Make Potato Slices in the Air Fryer

This recipe serves four – if want crispier potato slices, you’ll want to cook this in two batches. If you’re only serving two – you’ll just need two potatoes.

  • Wash potatoes and pat dry with paper towels or a clean kitchen towel. With a sharp chef’s knife, slice the potatoes into even 1/8-1/4 inch thick slices. Too thin and you’ll be making potato chips vs slices.
  • Soak Potatoes in cold water for 15 mins. This will get rid of some of the starch and make the potatoes more crisp.
  • After 15 minutes, drain potatoes and place in a mixing bowl.
  • Add olive oil, Lawry’s, paprika, cayenne and cumin to bowl with potatoes. Toss to coat.
  • Pour potato slices into air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry at 400°F for 8 minutes. Open basket and toss potatoes. Air fry 8 minutes more.
  • For crispier potatoes, cook in two batches and cook five minutes longer.
  • Remove potatoes and serve with your favorite dip or side dish.

Tips, Tricks & FAQs

What kind of potatoes are best for air fryer potato slices?

Use whatever kind you have – I used Yukon Gold but you could also use a Russet potato or red potatoes as well.

Why do you soak potatoes in water before air frying?

This helps remove some of the starch from the potatoes and will help them crisp up in the air fryer.

Why are my air fryer potatoes not crispy?

You probably have too many potatoes in your basket. Remove some of the potatoes and air fry an additional 5 minutes at 400º.

Can I bake these potatoes?

Yes – these will take 30-40 minutes cooking time in a 400º oven.

How do you store and reheat leftover potato slices?

Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass ones) in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat in the air fryer at 350º for 5 minutes.

Recipe Variations

  • Cheesy – add shredded cheddar cheese and air fry an additional 3 minutes to melt.
  • Loaded Taters – Make these slices into potato skins and load with cheese, bacon, green onions and sour cream
  • Seasonings – You could shake on ranch seasoning, taco seasoning, fry seasoning or your own favorite combination of herbs like garlic powder, rosemary and oregano and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
  • Red Potatoes – swap out the Yukon gold for Small Red Potatoes
