Air Fryer Roasted Garlic recipe is so easy and has so many uses! Roasting the garlic mellows the flavor and makes this delicious almost buttery paste that you can use in so many ways!
Jump to RecipeYou can also do this in the oven – but if you have an air fryer – try it there! This easy air fryer recipe is so much quicker (25 minutes of cook time) and it adds a rich nutty flavor and is a wonderful addition to your favorite dishes like sauteed vegetables, mashed potatoes, soups and sauces!
Roasted Garlic Ingredients
- Full garlic head – not just a clove – and be sure you’re using fresh garlic
- Extra Virgin Olive oil or avocado oil
- Coarse sea salt
- Fresh ground black pepper
How to Roast Garlic in the Air Fryer?
This is such a simple recipe – here you go:
- First step – take the whole head of garlic and cut off the top of the garlic bulbs (the root end) so each of the cloves in their paper are “exposed”.
- Next, put the cut bulb into the center of a piece of aluminum foil and curve the sides up around it to make a basket
- Then place the bulb, exposed side up, into the foil basket.
- Drizzle olive oil, salt and pepper over the bulb.
- Place the tin foil packet into the air fryer basket and air fry at 400 for 25-30 minutes. It may take a little longer depending on the size of your garlic bulbs. If you’ve got small heads of garlic, it may only take 20 minutes.
- You’ll know the bulbs are done if they’re soft when you poke them with a knife.
- You can pop them out of their little sleeves with a small spoon.
Uses for Roasted Garlic
There are so many delicious ways to use roasted garlic, here are a few of the easiest ways:
- When the individual garlic cloves pop out of the bulb – they’re warm and spreadable! This is my favorite way to eat them – just grab a piece of sourdough bread and schmear away with a butter knife! It’s much more mellow garlic flavor than raw garlic and a wonderful creamy texture.
- An easy way to jazz up plain hummus, sour cream or butter is to grab a few cloves of the roasted garlic and add them in!
- If you’re making mashed potatoes – throw a few cloves into the mix!
- Making soup or pasta sauces? Dice up and throw in a few roasted cloves – so good!
- Roasted garlic is also fantastic in pasta dishes – there’s a ton of them in Olive Garden’s Chicken Scampi (one of my favorite recipes!)
How do you store roasted garlic?
There are a number of ways to store roasted garlic depending on how long you need it to keep. Here are the best methods:
- The easiest ways is to place the whole heads of roasted garlic in the refrigerator. They’ll last for 3-4 days if you place them in an airtight container.
- For longer storage, the best way is to remove the individual cloves from the peel (they pop out) and submerge them in olive oil in a small mason jar and place in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
- And the longest storage – you can place the whole garlic cloves in olive oil and then freeze them in an ice cube tray. Once frozen, pop them out and put them in a ziploc and back into the freezer.
