Recipe: Copycat Red Lobster Crab Alfredo

When I was growing up - my Dad would take me to Red Lobster for my birthday. I loved it so much - and it was such a fancy treat (we were super poor). Now as a grown up - I still love it. My favorite dish is Crab Alfredo.

So I decided to make it myself. You're sort of making three things at once - but they're all quick and easy - so it's just a little timing magic and you're good! This is the best crab pasta recipe you'll find!

How to make Crab Alfredo like Red Lobster?

So you've got three major components: pasta, crab, Alfredo (duh). I get the pasta done first - that can sit for a few minutes and heat up when you mix it with the sauce.

The crab - I always choose king crab and you can either steam it on the stove or even in the microwave. More on that if you scroll.

Then when your pasta and crab are ready - make your alfredo sauce. It only takes a few minutes and I recommend using low heat!

What kind of crab do you use in crab alfredo?

There are three kinds of crab meat: King Crab, Snow Crab, Imitation Crab. I love imitation crab in a cold pasta salad but not in a heated dish! Snow crab tastes good but the legs are super skinny and it's too much work for the amount of crab you get. King Crab is where it's at! The legs are big and full of meat!

How do you prepare King Crab?

It's actually simple! You can heat up a big pot of water and put a steamer basket inside and then lay the legs on top and out of the water. Put the lid on and steam for 3-4 minutes. Or set them on a plate and cover them with a wet paper towel. Microwave for 3 minutes. Done!

You'll love this creamy Crab Alfredo as much as I do! I used lots of crab meat because - why not?! It's delicious! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

  1. Question, this sounds and looks awesome. Always wanted to go to red lobster but never have. I love crab. I agree that as tasty as imitation crab is, it's not so good in hot dishes, except maybe hot dips. Unfortunately I can't afford crab legs, and even the space to cook them in the RV, although grilled crab legs do rock, but far too expensive. So do you think canned crab, or possibly frozen crab meat would be suitable? I really want to make this for my hubby's birthday in June. Thank you, it looks divine!

    1. 1. if you have a kroger - they have king crab there often times for like $10 a pound on sale - so look for that - much cheaper and delicious! and you can cook it in the microwave - if you have one in the rv.

      2. my next choice would be fresh crab meat in the store vs canned - it's in the seafood section - usually in a plastic tub like the size of a soup can - the pieces are a little smaller than if you do the crab yourself - but it works for sure and tastes great! The canned would work too - but i would see if you can get the fresh first.

Let me know if that helps!!!! And yes - make it for his birthday!!!

Speaking of the fake crab - i'm going to make that crab/cream cheese casserole that's on every chinese buffet! it's next on my list!! i love that stuff!!! hahahahaha
