A couple of months ago – I came across a great deal on big packages of pork chops and snapped up two big packages! Then I brought them home and put them in individual bags and then in a gallon bags. Now – I have pork chops for months! The thing I love about pork is that no matter where you buy pork – you’re supporting local farmers – which is very important to me and my family!

I’m also on Weight Watchers and I can still have pork chops! Did you know today’s pork has about 16% less fat and 27% saturated fat as compared to 30 years ago? These pork chops are only 8 points! Woohoo! Healthy dinner WIN! Pork is a great flavorful and nutritious option any night of the week!

What’s in 3 Ingredient Pork Chops?

I’m a huge fan of pork – full disclosure – I work with the Ohio Pork Council on the side – but I’ve always loved pork. It has so much more FLAVOR than chicken but it’s still a lean cut of protein! These 3 Ingredient Pork Chops are super simple and you only need three ingredients:

  • pork chops – there are so many kinds of pork chops and any of them will work – I used sirloin chops this time but pork loin chops and shoulder chops work great. I would keep the boneless and rib chops for recipes that are grilled or cooked on the stove top. The loin chops are fattier and have bones in them – so they break down nicely in the slow cooker.
  • Lipton Onion Soup Mix – not a fan of onions – well…you could swap out and use a ranch or Italian dressing mix packet
  • Cream of Mushroom soup – I’m on Weight Watchers – so I chose a 98% fat free – but feel free to use a full fat version. Not a fan of mushrooms? You can swap any of the canned cream soups like cream of chicken soup.

I’ve seen these 3-ingredient recipes with lots of combinations from using ranch dressing mix, chicken gravy and even ketchup. I think the key is one dry ingredient (usually one of the seasoning packets) and one sauce – they mix together and make a magical gravy!

You’ll notice there’s no salt & pepper in this recipe – it’s because the soup mix already has those ingredients – so no need to add extra sodium.

Can I add veggies to the crock pot?

Yes definitely! Be sure to add vegetables that can stand up to cooking for 4 hours – mushrooms and carrots and even potatoes would be delicious! Avoid more delicate vegetables like broccoli – they’ll just turn to mush in the slow cooker.

How do you make pork chops in the crock pot?

You’ll be shocked at how easy this is! If my dogs had opposable thumbs – I could teach them to do it!

  • Lightly spray crock pot with nonstick cooking spray
  • Place pork chops in crock pot
  • Sprinkle onion soup mix over pork chops
  • Pour cream of mushroom soup over chops
  • Cook on low for 4 hours

Can you put raw pork in the slow cooker?

Yes – definitely! I sure did! You can brown them first on the stove. Use a nonstick skillet and add 1 tsp olive oil. Sear for 1-2 minutes on each side and then add to the slow cooker. This is definitely optional – I didn’t do it and it turned out fine.

How long do you cook pork chops in the crock pot?

These chops were not super thick – but also not super thin – probably 3/4″ thick – and four hours was plenty of time on LOW for them. Pork chops are done at 145 degrees but most likely in a crock pot – you’re going to get 165 degrees – which is fine. No need to use an instant-read thermometer with the slow cooker – if they’re falling apart – they’re done.

I wouldn’t use thick-cut pork chops (more than 1″ thick) in the crock pot – those are just so delicious – grill or make them in the air fryer!

What kind of pork chops can you use in this recipe?

As I mentioned above, you can use any kind of pork chop – but I would recommend bone-in chops that are either the loin, blade or shoulder. There’s a bit more fat which adds to them staying juicy and tender. Here’s a great guide to pork chops I found that shows pics of all the different cuts of pork chops – who knew there were so many!

I would also recommend not using boneless pork chops or rib chops – boneless chops will dry out too fast. The only time I use boneless chops is when I’m making a breaded pork sandwich (the food of my people!). And save the rib chops for grilling – that’s when they’re at their best!

How do you keep pork chops from drying out in the crock pot?

My tips for not having dry pork in the crock pot are:

  • use shoulder/blade chops because they’re fattier
  • have enough liquid in the slow cooker – for 2 chops – 1 can of cream soup was fine
  • be sure to just cook on low for 4 hours – don’t let them go all day! If you cook them on high – they would probably be done in 2 hours

What to serve with 3 Ingredient Pork Chops?

I served them with fresh cherry tomatoes and mashed potatoes – but you could also have fun with veggies and taters like these ideas:

  1. 4 stars
Substituted cream of chicken and used two cans as I like extra sauce. I also added a handful of sliced mushrooms, the mushrooms in cream of chicken and mushrooms are too puny. I served the dish on rice and it made 4 delicious servings. The recipe is really as East as it sounds.

  2. Try with sour cream, onion soup mix and cream of mushroom soup.
Maybe not in crockpot because of sour cream unless you add sour cream at the end.
My mother’s recipe was done in her electric skillet vs. crock pot.
Let me know if you try it.

  3. I want to try this recipe and was wondering if I could use pork steaks? I’m thinking they might do well as they have a bone & are usually well-marbled.

  4. What is meant by a can of skim milk? Fill one of the soup cans, or do you use something that is canned like evaporated milk? They are 3 ingredient pork chops, but there are actually 4 if you include the milk….

    1. Yes – pour skim milk into empty soup can half way. It’s optional – you don’t have to but if you want a little extra gravy go for it. And yes – then if you did do that – it would be 4 ingredients. Good job on mathing.
