What You Will ❤️ About Egg Toast
- Just like Mom made – Toad in a Hole was always something my grandma made – and this is an updated version for 2023!
- Eggsactly how you like it! Whether you like a runny egg or a hard cooked egg – you can make it just how YOU like it!
- Simple Ingredients – Eggs, bread & butter – that’s all you need for this easy breakfast recipe!

Ingredients for Egg Toast
You don’t need much for egg toast – I mean – duh – you need the egg and the toast! Here are my recos:
- Large Eggs
- Bread – The kind of bread doesn’t matter for this recipe – use what you have or what you like: white bread, wheat bread, rye or whatever else!
- Butter – This made a lot of difference! The toast was golden brown and ready to eat!
- Seasoning – I just went with salt & pepper but Sazon is great on eggs!
- Cheese – I did one with and one without – very tasty either way. Colby Jack or Cheddar are a great choice for cheesy egg toast!

This recipe was made using the Paula Deen Air Fryer.

Recipe Variations
- Sausage – add some sausage into the air fryer with your egg toast and it’ll all be done at the same time
- Mexican – when you take it out of the AF, add salsa and avocado slices
- Spicy – sprinkle on a few red chili flakes or a dash of sriracha
- Deli Ham – line the bread indentation with a slice of deli ham to add a little protein

How to make Air Fryer Egg Toast Recipe
Making “fried” egg toast in the air fryer eliminates all the mess! Here’s how to make it:
- Line air fryer with parchment paper liners or spray with cooking spray.
- Butter bread slices and, using a glass, make an indent in the center of the bread. I actually made two indentations with the glass to make enough room for the egg.
- Place the bread slices into the air fryer basket.
- Crack the egg into the center of each slice of bread. It is ok if a little egg white goes beyond the indent. Sprinkle salt and pepper on top. (Add a sprinkle of shredded cheese if you’d like!)
- Air Fry at 320°F for 8 minutes for a runny yolk. If you want a little harder egg yolk you may need to add 1-2 extra minutes cooking time.
- Remove toast with a spatula and serve with sausage or bacon and a side of fresh fruit or cereal.

Tips, Tricks & FAQs
Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass storage ones) in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheating in the air fryer is easy – heat at 250º for 3-4 minutes.
Yes of course! Spray the rack with non-stick spray lightly so it doesn’t stick.
So many! Here are 7 other ways to make eggs in the air fryer! I’ll have to add this to the list. Yum!
