What You Will ❤️ About Egg Toast

  • Just like Mom made – Toad in a Hole was always something my grandma made – and this is an updated version for 2023!
  • Eggsactly how you like it! Whether you like a runny egg or a hard cooked egg – you can make it just how YOU like it!

Ingredients for Egg Toast

You don’t need much for egg toast – I mean – duh – you need the egg and the toast! Here are my recos:

  • Large Eggs
  • Bread – The kind of bread doesn’t matter for this recipe – use what you have or what you like: white bread, wheat bread, rye or whatever else!
  • Butter – This made a lot of difference! The toast was golden brown and ready to eat!
  • Seasoning – I just went with salt & pepper but Sazon is great on eggs!
  • Cheese – I did one with and one without – very tasty either way. Colby Jack or Cheddar are a great choice for cheesy egg toast!

This recipe was made using the Paula Deen Air Fryer.

Recipe Variations

  • Sausage – add some sausage into the air fryer with your egg toast and it’ll all be done at the same time
  • Mexican – when you take it out of the AF, add salsa and avocado slices
  • Spicy – sprinkle on a few red chili flakes or a dash of sriracha
  • Deli Ham – line the bread indentation with a slice of deli ham to add a little protein

How to make Air Fryer Egg Toast Recipe

Making “fried” egg toast in the air fryer eliminates all the mess! Here’s how to make it:

  1. Line air fryer with parchment paper liners or spray with cooking spray.
  2. Butter bread slices and, using a glass, make an indent in the center of the bread. I actually made two indentations with the glass to make enough room for the egg.
  3. Place the bread slices into the air fryer basket.
  4. Crack the egg into the center of each slice of bread. It is ok if a little egg white goes beyond the indent. Sprinkle salt and pepper on top. (Add a sprinkle of shredded cheese if you’d like!)
  5. Air Fry at 320°F for 8 minutes for a runny yolk. If you want a little harder egg yolk you may need to add 1-2 extra minutes cooking time.
  6. Remove toast with a spatula and serve with sausage or bacon and a side of fresh fruit or cereal.

Tips, Tricks & FAQs

How do you store and reheat leftover egg toast?

Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass storage ones) in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheating in the air fryer is easy – heat at 250º for 3-4 minutes.

Can you make this in a traditional toaster oven?

Yes of course! Spray the rack with non-stick spray lightly so it doesn’t stick.

What other ways can you make eggs in the air fryer?

So many! Here are 7 other ways to make eggs in the air fryer! I’ll have to add this to the list. Yum!
