Making Halibut in the Air Fryer is so simple and I’ve got a secret ingredient to make it even more moist and delicious.

What You Will Love About Halibut in the Air Fryer
This is a super fast recipe – take your halibut out of the freezer the night before and pop it in the fridge. When dinner time rolls around – take it out – sprinkle it with salt & pepper then smother it with my special ingredient. Twelve minutes later – dinner is served!!!!

Air Fryer Halibut Ingredients
Ok – here it is – the secret ingredient: Spinach Artichoke Dip! One of my favorite date night restaurants here in Cincinnati has this as their house special – spinach artichoke dip smothered on halibut – and it was MY FAVORITE!!!!
- 1 lb halibut filets – I like Fulton Fish Market for fish – much more fresh than the frozen pre-portion grocery store fish!
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup spinach artichoke dip – you can make your own or buy a tub at the store

How to Make Halibut in the Air Fryer
Literally not sure how this recipe could get any easier! Sprinkle with salt & pepper, top with dip and you’re done!
FRIDGE TIP: I keep an open plastic bin in the fridge – so when I take frozen items out to thaw – they don’t leak and thaw all over the shelves!
- Rinse filets and pat dry with paper towels
- Sprinkle both sides of halibut with salt & pepper
- Because we’re topping with the dip – no need for olive oil spray
- Place fish fillets in air fryer basket
- I like to place fish filets on a parchment paper liner just to make the cleanup a little easier
- Air Fry at 350ºF for 6 minutes (just with seasoning for now)
- Open air fryer and spread 1/4 cup dip on each fillet (or 1/2 cup on whole fillet if it’s in one piece)
- Close air fryer and air fry for 6 minutes more
- Remove from air fryer and serve with a squeeze of fresh lemon

Tips, Tricks & FAQs
If you’re using frozen halibut – air fry at 350º for an additional 4 minutes before seasoning. Then follow the recipe as directed. Depending on the thickness of the filets, you might cook it 1-2 minutes more or less overall.
Yes – definitely!!!! I use it for fish & seafood all the time! Fish tacos are so yum, shrimp cook perfectly – and don’t even get me started on lobster tails! Check out the Air Fryer section of my site!
I use a fork and flake off a chunk on the corner – if it flakes off super easily – it’s done. The ends are thinner and hotter – so make sure the ends flake really easily – fall apart almost. That way you’ll know the center is done.
It’s a very mild white fish and goes well with anything. It’s definitely not a fishy fish.
Store leftovers in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to a week – or freeze up to three months. Reheat in the microwave for 2 minutes or air fry at 250º for 3-4 minutes.

Variations
- Spices – you can also leave off the dip and use something like lemon herb flavorings from Old Bay – other good seasonings are garlic powder and onion powder
- Lemon Cream Sauce – make up a quick lemon cream sauce like this Chicken dish has and pour over top of the halibut. The fresh lemon zest really makes this sauce!
- Blackened – Grab some cajun seasoning and make a blackened halibut
