Fruity Fran Chicken Salad Ingredients
Chicken Salad Chick admits that the recipe is simple – chicken, mayo and a secret seasoning – I’ve unlocked it for you! Here’s what you need:
- Shredded Chicken Breast – you can poach chicken breasts or chicken tenderloins or just use rotisserie chicken. Chicken Salad Chick uses white meat but I mix in a little dark meat when I’m making at home.
- Duke’s Mayonnaise – this is the choice of the South – but use what you like
- Minced Celery – be sure to FINELY mince your celery – you won’t see big pieces at CSC!
- Onion Powder
- Fuji Apples – any sweet crunchy apple will work
- Red & Green Seedless Grapes – they use both colors – but you can use what you have – you only need a handful of grapes
- Pineapple Tidbits – I used a 4 oz snack pack-style cup

- Classic Carol – just the basics: mayo, celery, onion powder…and chicken
- Dixie Chick – like the Carol but add minced onions
- Sassy Scotty – add cheddar, bacon & ranch
- Cranberry Kelli – Carol with dried cranberries and slivered almonds
- Fancy Nancy – it sure is fancy when you add fruit like fuji apples, grapes and crushed pecans
- Kickin’ Kay Lynne – buffalo sauce, ranch, bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, jalapeños, & Sriracha
- Jalapeño Holly – Diced Jalapenos
- Olivia’s Old South – add sweet pickles & hard-boiled egg
- Lauryn’s Lemon Basil – chopped pecans, fresh basil, & lemon

How to make Fruity Fran
The most work here is cooking and shredding the chicken. Chicken Salad Chick has a very fine shred on their chicken – here’s how to get the same texture:
- Use a food processor or VitaMix to shred your chicken. This is the KEY to getting the texture that Chicken Salad has!
- FINELY mince your celery – to where you can barely see pieces.
- In a medium bowl, add chicken, mayonnaise and onion powder and stir well.
- Add celery, apple, grapes and pineapple and stir mixture until combined.
- Serve with bread, croissants, crackers or on a bed of lettuce.

Yes! I like to take a big batch of chicken breasts and shred it up – then freeze that. Then whenever I want chicken salad – just scoop out 2 cups and make a batch!

- 2/3 cup Duke's mayonnaise
- 1/8 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 Fuji Apple diced
- 1/4 cup grapes diced
- 1/4 cup pineapple tidbits
