Reheating steak in the air fryer is an easy way to refresh your leftovers! Leftover steak can easily get dry and tough but I’ve got some tips & tricks so that doesn’t happen.

What You Will ❤️ About Reheating Steak in the Air Fryer
- Juicy! The Air Fryer circulates the air around the food so it cooks it quickly – which means it will stay juicy!
- Quick! You’ll have your leftover steak ready to go in 5-6 minutes!
- Easy Cleanup! Use a parchment liner and there’s NO cleanup!

This recipe was made using the Paula Deen Air Fryer.

What is the best way to reheat leftover steak?
Nowadays – it’s all air fryer for me! I used to microwave leftover steak – but it always so disappointing because it’s overcooking your steak! The microwave took juicy medium rare perfection to dried out well done in a minute! But the air fryer changes all that!
The air fryer heats up quickly but the hot air circulates around the food. This helps the steak stay juicy and tender!

How to serve Leftover Steak
Leftover steak – when heated in the air fryer – has all the flavor and taste as fresh off the grill. But what can you do with it?
- Salad – I love a steak salad! Romaine lettuce, blue cheese crumbles, cherry tomatoes and blue cheese dressing – topped with sliced steak!
- Pasta – Top a quick homemade alfredo with leftover steak slices
- Steak Bites – Chop a large piece of leftover steak into bite-sized pieces and toss with melted garlic butter
- Sandwich – Top a brioche bun with lettuce, leftover steak, provolone cheese, sauteed onions and mushrooms and some mayo or ranch dressing.

How to Reheat Steak in the Air Fryer – ONE PIECE
If at all possible, try and reheat steak that is all one piece. This will help prevent drying out and over cooking. Here’s what you’ll do:
- Remove leftover cooked steak from the fridge for 30 minutes and allow it to come to room temperature. first start out with steak that has been brought up to room temperature.
- Place the steak in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spritz with a little olive oil spray or add a pat of butter to the top of each steak.
- Air fry at 370º for 5-6 minutes, flipping the steak half way thru.
- If steak is super thin, it may only take 3-4 minutes
- If steak is thick, you may need to add 1-2 minutes more
- Using a meat thermometer, check the internal temperature of the steak and be sure it’s at least 110º F. If the inside is not as warm as you would like add 1-2 min more cooking time.
- Remove steak and serve with a pat of garlic butter and a sprinkle of salt & pepper.

How to Reheat Steak Slices in the Air Fryer
If you do have steak slices – you can still reheat them – and it will be quicker!
- Remove leftover steak slices from the fridge for 30 minutes and allow it to come to room temperature. first start out with steak that has been brought up to room temperature.
- Place the steak in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spritz with a little olive oil spray
- Air fry at 370º for 3-4 minutes
- Touch a slice of steak and see if it feels warm/hot. If not – you maybe want to add 1-2 min more.

How long can you store leftover steak?
Store leftovers in an airtight container (I like these glass storage ones) in the refrigerator for 4-5 days.
What is the best steak to reheat in the air fryer?
Temperature: Rare or Medium Rare steak is the best to reheat in the air fryer. You’ll typically be heating your steak up one level – so if you start with rare – air frying will take to medium rare. So if you think you’ll have leftover steaks, undercook them a bit!
Cut of Beef: Any cut of steak is fine to reheat in the air fryer. You’ll have better luck with thicker cuts vs. a thin piece of meat. But t-bone & ribeye steak are probably my favorite!
Do I need to preheat my air fryer?
The only time preheating is necessary is if your air fryer requires it. I own two air fryers and the oven style requires preheating when you start it but the basket style does not.
Can you reheat steak more than once?
No. The steak is going to be overcooked if you keep reheating it. You only want to reheat steak one time.
