These Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Fries are spicy, crunchy and perfect for an appetizer or a main dish! You can make them as spicy or mild as you like – PLUS – I’ve got some secret tricks for extra spicy flavor!
I’ve tried Chicken Fries in the fast food world and thought – hmmm – I can make those! Have you had them? They’re crunchy and portable – basically like a smaller chicken tender. But those chicken fries are pressed chicken meat – I made mine with real chicken breast.
And I can promise you that this chicken is super juicy and tender – plus – it cooks faster since it’s cut into thin strips! I made spicy and mild fries – can you tell which is which? (HINT: orange = hotter!)
Oh really you say? Yes…here are the…
Ingredients for Buffalo Chicken Fries
- 2 chicken breasts – I buy the pre-marinated chicken breasts all the time! The ones I had were “savory” marinade – whatever that means.
- 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce – you can use Frank’s Buffalo if you like – but I tend to like the creamier wing sauces – especially the Kroger brand
- 2 cups panko bread crumbs
How do you make Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Fries?
- Cut chicken breasts into small thin strips. About 3″ x .75″ in size
- I will say – my strips were a little big if you’re thinking of the “chicken fries” in the fast food world – but they are smaller than a chicken tender for sure
- Set up two breading trays – one with buffalo wing sauce and one with panko bread crumbs
- I did one chicken breast with spicy panko and one with regular panko – for me – a certifiable spice wuss – I like the regular!
- Dip chicken in buffalo then coat in panko. Pat the panko onto the chicken fries.
- If you want spicier chicken fries, you can use a medium or hot buffalo sauce OR use the spicy panko breading that I mentioned above. Combine them for super spicy chicken fries!
- If you want milder chicken fries, I would stick with a mild wing sauce and the plain panko breading. It’s still got the buffalo flavor without too much spicy!
- Lay chicken strips in air fryer and lightly spray with non-stick spray.
- Cook for 6-7 minutes – flipping halfway thru.
- Repeat with remaining chicken.
- Cool for 2-3 minutes and serve with Buffalo Ranch.
